'Pop' is a British fashion magazine co-founded in 2000 by Ashley Heath and Katie Grand. Grand had previously worked for 'Dazed and Confused' and was then invited by publishing house Emap to work on cult magazine 'The Face' as the magazine's official fashion director. She was then offered a position of editor-in-chief of new unnamed magazine. The first issue of 'Pop' was issued in September 2000. Grand left 'Pop' in 2008 to establish rival magazine 'Love'. Dasha Zhukova was then hired in her place as editor-in-chief and Heath is the current editorial director. 'Pop' has now been relaunched in an on-line format with the domain 'thepop.com'.
From looking at some articles and front covers I would assume that the target audience for 'Pop' is still fairly young as the covers often feature celebrities that would be popular with people under 30 for example Taylor Swift. However the magazine features advertisements and articles from higher end brands such as Channel. Celine and Louis Vuitton. From this I can assume that their primary target audience is 20-29, and age group who are professionals with out children.
There is a clear grunge and editorial influence in Pop magazine. The models on the front cover very rarely feature minimal, fresh faced make-up and there is a trend of head pieces and messy hair. Photos are also very editoral rather than beauty focused this is clear form the models expression. They are are either staring straight down the camera with a hard focus or looking off frame.
