Contrasting Colour

Today we continued our work using contrasting colour. This week we moved on to the face creating an 80's inspired look.

-The first step was to apply a full coverage foundation. My teacher used Mac's full coverage foundation for the demo I selected colours from my La Maquillage pallet to match my models skin tone.
-I did not need to apply any concealer with this foundation as the coverage was so full I did however use some d32 to correct any blue tones under my models eyes
-I then took some foundation that was a few shades darker than the foundation and applied this to the areas of the face that would naturally recede. I then buffed this into to the skin so it was not harsh looking.
-After this I took some of the clown white as a highlight. I was able to use this colour as my model had fair skin. I would not have used this product on a darker skin tone as it would have looked ashy.
-I then set the face with a translucent powder as I didn't want to add additional coverage to the skin as this may have masked some of the highlighting and contouring.
-For brows I filled in any sparse areas using an eye shadow
-I then moved on to eyes and started by applying greasepaint in clown white to enhance the coloured eye shadow and applied this in a winged shape.
-I then took a taupe shade and applied this in the crease to blend the colours out
-I selected complementary colours and applied my first colour on the inner half of my eye and the second one on the outer half. I tried to make sure they were blended together with no apparent stop or start.
-I then put some of the clown white greasepaint on the waterline and slightly under the eye and applied my third colour over this
-I then extended my eyeshadows inwards on the inside of the eye keeping a flowing shape as I did.
-I applied mascara using a medium coat on the bottom and top lashes
-For blusher I also used the clown white as a base for my blush and applied this on the very top of the cheekbone in a harsh line and then blended it down to nothing.
-I then applied my blush over the top of this I sected two shades that I thought would work with my look. I applied this by packing it on to the skin onto the ends as I got to the edges belended it out to nothing.
-My teacher used cake liner. As I don't have this I used black aqua colour. For the line I followed the line that I had created with the eyeshadow. I then added more lines where ever there was a harsh line I could define with black liner. I then added a bit of black shadow to the thicker line to make them slightly more blended.
-If I'd had more time for lips I would have mixed a matte shade that I felt would complement the make-up.

Overall I like the look I have created I think the colours I have selected work nicely together and I have created a good shape around the eye. However I feel that the line on the top of my blush could be blended better as it looks a bit static.
