Braiding Hair

In today's lesson we practised different braiding techniques. I was not present for the previous lesson when we had been taught various methods of braiding so in my own time I looked at online tutorials and practised some of them on my own hair as well as some friends hair.

The first braid I practised was a segmented French plait.
-To create this look I first pulled all the hair backwards off the face. I also made the hair slightly damp so that it was easier to make neat.
-To create the braid I split the hair at the top of the head into three sections and crossed them over each other.
-I then went on with the plait but rather that adding section in every time I added to the plait I added the section after every few times I plaited.
-I then played with the way I added sections in such and twisting and plaiting them slightly.
-I like the look of this plait although it was slightly messy toward the end

The style I created in lesson was an updo that featured two different types of plaits of two different sizes.
-The first plait I created was a french plait on the left side of the head. This was the larger of the two plaits. I think my creation of this went well. I managed to keep my tension strong and the plait stayed consistent through out.
-I then created a simple three strand plait with the rest of the hair.
-I pulled the end of the french plait round the nape of the neck and secured it in place with a hair grip
-I then secured my second plait in by back combing the end of it. I also tuck the end back on itself
I think this hair style was effective and is something I could see being used in fashion
