Harper's Bazaar is an American fashion magazine that is published monthly. Harper's Bazaar was published in 1867 and is the first ever fashion magazine. It is currently published in 31 countries. Glenda Bailey is the current USA editor-in-chief and Justine Picardie is the current UK editor-in-chief. The magazine has hosted the talents of visionaries Erte and Andy Warhol.
Harper's Bazaar tends to feature higher end brands in its advertisements. Articles are often focused on award ceremonies, premiers and prestigious parties and dinners. The reader profile has an average age of 45.1 with 48.7% of the readers being married and 37% having children. Readers also have an average annual income of $90,327 which is about equal to £60,000. These statistics make it clear that the magazine is targeted towards the middle and upper middle classes.
The covers are reflective of the target audience in that they tend to feature people who are well respected in their filed and the shots appear to be studio shot rather than location shots. The hair and make-up also tends to be more beauty driven rather than editorial. They looks also tend to be wearable and glamours.
Out of all the magazines I have researched Harpers Bazaar has my favourite covers so I am going to create my cover image for this publication.
