Dazed magazine (formerly Dazed & Confused) is a monthly British style magazine. It was founded in 1992 by editor Jefferson Hack and fashion photographer Rankin. The magazine covers film, fashion, art, literature and music.
The magazine contains features on high end designers and discuss the designers themselves more than the clothes leading me to believe that the magazine is less about consumerism and more about art. Adding to this theory is the fact that the magazine discusses a variety of up and coming music genres and film visionaries. This leads me to believe that the magazine is perhaps geered toward young adults interested, working or studying fashion and media with the age range of this audience being 18-30.
The magazine covers tend to be shot close up and look to be studio shots. There is alot of variation with the covers of Dazed magazine. Some of the covers I have seen the make-up is fairly minimal and props or accessories are a main focus. Others feautre editorial make-up that is somewhat eerie. There are a few covers that feature a statement lip or eye but the make-up is still somewhat wearable.
The hair on most of the covers I have seen looks to have been kept natural or styled into a wearable updo. Dazed also has some black and white covers.
