Colour Pop Look

In today's lesson we worked on creating a colourful high fashion look.
This look involves using complementary colours so I drew on my colour theory that I had learnt in previous lessons.

-The first step for this look was to apply some white grease paint to the eyelid and under the lower lash line. I also put some on the waterline. The reason for this is that it makes the eye-shadow colours appear much bolder and brighter meaning you don't have to build layer upon layer of eye-shadow to reach full colour pay off. This is a technique that works well for photo shoots but is not very long wearing. At first I applied a little too much product but once I removed some I achieved a desirable shape. I also tidied up the edges with a cotton bud immersed in a tiny bit if make-up remover.

-My next step was to select my colours I chose to use purple and yellow as these are complementary colours. I applied the purple to the eye lid and the yellow underneath the eye. I think that I achieved a really nice shape and the colours connected with blending into each other.

-The next thing I did was to apply the base to the skin. I started out with my le maquillage pallet which provides a full coverage and applied this to any areas of the skin that needed a little extra coverage. On my model this was some of the redness in her cheeks and around her nose. Luckily for my my model had very clear skin so I didn't need too much of this. I then went in with some of Mac's face a body foundation which provides a sheer coverage and gives the skin a dewy finish. This created the perfect amount of coverage and left the skin looking very fresh.

-I then moved on to fill in the brows using my Mac brow pencil. At fist I was playing it a bit safe and just filled in where the hair was growing. After my teacher demonstrating how using light feathery strokes could mimic hair that wasn't growing in sparse areas I started to use this technique and made the brows appear fuller. I also applied two coats of mascara to the lashes.

-My last step to select a lip colour that complemented the colours I had selected for the eyes. using my Kryolan lip pallet I mixed a deep fuchsia colour and applied this to the lips.

Overall I think my look works well but I need to not be scared of being bold when it comes to brows. The artist who used me as a model selected some colours that were almost neon which created a very striking make-up. This is something I would like to play with. Some other class members also used an unconventional colour on the lips such and bright orange or blue which is something else I would like to experiment with.
